Gratitude

Every year when I hear the words “Friendship day” this song echoes in my head

Mustafa Mustafa Don't Worry Mustafaa
Kaalam Nam Thozhan Mustafaa
Day-By-Day, Day-By-Day Vaazhkaip Payanam Day-By-Day
Muzhugaatha Shippae Friendship Thaan..

You can listen to the whole song here:

This is a song from a 1996 movie “Kaadhal Desam”
It speaks about 2 friends and love.

Loosely translated:
It tells us never worry, time is our friend,
in our journey of life, the one ship which never sinks is friendship.

During my post grad days, this was the song which was played loud every night from the room below mine!
I looked forward to the guys getting back from classes to start the music!
To me: it meant my friends were back and I had company!
Yes, I still smile thinking of them and the conversations we had!

Who can say it better than Pooh, and Piglet!

Is this what we want from friends :to be sure!

While growing up, this day meant an open show of affection, the gift stores and card shops cashed in on our sentiments/

Today, I look at it as a day to be grateful for the friends who still remain an integral part of my life.

Though we do not talk every day,
I consciously stop and say,
“Thank you God for their presence each day!
Keep them safe night and day.”
